About the role
A two-week training period is required M – F 8 a – 4:30 p. Holiday and/or weekend rotation is required. St. Peter’s Health Partners is seeking an individual to assist with clerical duties associated with keeping the department running smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Provides patient-focused customer service.
- Performs outpatient and/or inpatient registration and insurance verification functions.
- Collects patient financial liability payments and ensures that patients meet financial requirements including Medicare medical necessity, payer pre-certifications, and referrals.
- Provides general information to hospital users, patients, families, and physician offices.

- Process Focus: Utilizes multiple system applications to perform analysis, create reports, and develop educational materials. Incorporates basic knowledge of Trinity Health policies, practices, and processes to ensure quality, confidentiality, and safety are prioritized. Demonstrates knowledge of departmental processes and procedures and ability to readily acquire new knowledge.
- Data Management & Analysis: Researches and compiles information to support ad-hoc operational projects and initiatives. Synthesizes and analyzes data and provides detailed summaries including graphical data presentations illustrating trends and recommending practical options or solutions while considering the impact on business strategy and supporting leadership decision making. Leverages program and operational data and measurements to define and demonstrate progress, ROI, and impacts.
- Maintains a working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws/regulations, Trinity Health Integrity & Compliance Program and Code of Conduct, as well as other policies, procedures, and guidelines in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior and safe work practices.
Qualifications
- Minimum one (1) year customer service experience.
- Patient Access experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA required within one (1) year of hire.
Additional Qualifications (nice to have)
- Medical terminology required.
- Knowledge of diagnostic and procedural coding.
- Insurance verification with the ability to explain benefits and secure necessary authorizations.
Pay
$17.25 – $22.54 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
