Registration Associate – Albany Memorial Hospital - FT Days

About the Role

Provides patient-focused customer service. Performs outpatient and/or inpatient registration and insurance verification functions; collects patient financial liability payments and ensures that patients meet financial requirements including Medicare medical necessity, payer pre-certifications, and referrals. Provides general information to hospital users, patients, families, and physician offices.

Holiday and/or weekend rotation is required. A two-week training period is required Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

Responsibilities

• Researches, collects, and analyzes information to identify opportunities, develop solutions, and lead through resolution.
• Collaborates on performance improvement activities as indicated by outcomes in program efficiency and patient experience.
• Utilizes multiple system applications to perform analysis, create reports, and develop educational materials.
• Incorporates basic knowledge of Trinity Health policies, practices, and processes to ensure quality, confidentiality, and safety.
• Demonstrates knowledge of departmental processes and procedures and ability to readily acquire new knowledge.
• Synthesizes and analyzes data, providing detailed summaries including graphical presentations to illustrate trends and recommend solutions.
• Maintains a working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws/regulations, Trinity Health Integrity & Compliance Program, and Code of Conduct.
• Ensures adherence to policies in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior and safe work practices.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one (1) year of customer service experience.
• Patient Access experience preferred.
• HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA certification required within one (1) year of hire.

Additional Qualifications

• Medical terminology knowledge.
• Understanding of diagnostic and procedural coding.
• Insurance verification experience with the ability to explain benefits and secure necessary authorizations.

Pay

Pay range: $17.25–$22.54 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may vary based on location.
