About the role

Provides patient focused customer service. Performs outpatient and/or inpatient registration and insurance verification functions; collects patient financial liability payments and ensures that patients meet financial requirements including Medicare medical necessity, payer pre-certifications and referrals. Provides general information to hospital users, patients, families and physician offices. Holiday and/or weekend rotation is required. A two-week training period is required M-F 8a-4:30p.

Essential Functions

  • Work Focus: Researches, collects and analyzes information. Identifies opportunities, develops solutions, and leads through resolution. Collaborates on performance improvement activities as indicated by outcomes in program efficiency and patient experience. Responsible for distribution of analytical reports.
  • Process Focus: Utilizes multiple system applications to perform analysis, create reports and develop educational materials. Incorporates basic knowledge of Trinity Health policies, practices and processes to ensure quality, confidentiality and safety are prioritized. Demonstrates knowledge of departmental processes and procedures and ability to readily acquire new knowledge.
  • Data Management and Analysis: Research and compiles information to support ad-hoc operational projects and initiatives. Synthesizes and analyzes data and provides detailed summaries including graphical data presentations illustrating trends and recommending practical options or solutions while considering the impact on business strategy and supporting leadership decision making. Leverages program and operational data and measurements to define and demonstrate progress, ROI and impacts.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations, Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct, as well as other policies, procedures and guidelines in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior and safe work practices.

Functional Role

PAR I Entry level position.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one (1) year customer service experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA required within one (1) year of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Patient Access experience preferred.
  • Medical terminology required and knowledge of diagnostic and procedural coding.
  • Insurance verification with the ability to explain benefits, secure necessary authorizations.

Pay

$17.25-$22.54 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
