Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine is searching for a Registration/Scheduler.

Pay

  • Registration/Scheduler I: $15.90 – $18.55/hour (dependent upon years of equivalent and relevant experience)
  • Registration/Scheduler II: $17.45 – $20.35/hour (1–2 years healthcare, customer service, and call center experience required)
  • Registration/Scheduler III: $19.65 – $22.90/hour (healthcare, customer service, call center, insurance verification, and billing experience required)

Schedule

  • No nights, no weekends (occasional overtime on weekends or evenings for time-sensitive projects)

Responsibilities

  • Verifying insurance in the EMR and/or appropriate websites and correcting any errors with coverage
  • Creating and printing Good Faith Estimates for self-pay and non-participating insurances
  • Backing up the CST to print MCIRs for next-day patients
  • Willingness to work at all locations if needed to maintain staffing levels
  • Pre-registration for upcoming appointments by calling patients to collect all correct information
  • Managing all assigned work-queues and in-basket requests
  • Answering and directing department phone calls
  • Scheduling and rescheduling clinic appointments
  • Entering patient demographic and insurance information into the EMR system
  • Verifying eligibility of managed care patients and collecting copays
  • Ensuring appropriate paperwork is provided to patients at check-in based on provider requirements
  • Sorting and distributing department mail
  • Providing information to patients regarding billing processes and procedures
  • Entry of patient concerns, refill requests, and routing to appropriate clinic in-basket
  • Managing patient portal requests
  • Monitoring office supplies and reordering items as needed
  • Acquiring knowledge for new technology and policy/procedure revisions
  • All other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Registration/Scheduler I: Healthcare setting and customer service experience preferred
  • Registration/Scheduler II: 1–2 years of healthcare, customer service, and call center experience
  • Registration/Scheduler III: Healthcare, customer service, call center, insurance verification, and billing experience
