Registrar - Behavioral Health Registrations - PT - Day (Weekends)

A Brief Overview

Registration staff graciously greet all patients and visitors to Stormont Vail. Provides a positive image to customers by creating a friendly atmosphere and placing a high priority on meeting customer needs in a courteous manner. Receives and checks patients in as they arrive for their appointment; collects demographics and insurance information from patient; schedules patient appointments; answers telephone and receives messages for physicians and staff; receives co-payment for services when applicable. Initiates the admission process and receives payment for services.

Education & Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED Required
• 1 year Experience in customer service
• Experience in an office setting
• Billing or payment processing experience preferred
• Preferred Experience typing or using a computer
• Knowledge of patient rights and laws relative to those rights, such as HIPAA

Required Experience

• Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures
• Ability to learn and understand basic medical terminology used in the department

Skills & Abilities

• Identifies complex problems and reviews related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
• Knowledge of patient rights and laws relative to those rights, such as HIPAA
• Communicates to department personnel to ensure staff are aware of necessary events or information
• Maintains accurate records in department systems
• Assists with insurance processing and authorization
• Assists with on-boarding new staff into the department
• Assists in the billing process
• Conducts reports as requested
