Responsibilities

  • Performs ultrasound imaging studies in accordance with physician orders and departmental guidelines.
  • Prepares and transports patients as necessary.
  • Prepares imaging equipment, room, and images, as needed for interpretation.
  • Verifies and completes studies in RIS and PACS.
  • Maintains Quality Control on Equipment as Instructed.
  • Performs such exams as abdominal echoes, renal, aorta, thyroid, pelvic, obstetrical, bio physical profiles, vascular studies, testicular and breasts.
  • Color flow studies, doppler studies, renal biopsies and fluid collections of localized areas.
  • Checks all images with the radiologist; consults with the radiologist about the reading of scans and reports.
  • Provides written, unofficial reports of examinations.
  • Takes representative anatomical pictures, recognizes normal versus abnormal anatomy, and exhibits knowledge of various pathological processes.
  • Marks images for proper definition and explanation.
  • Available for on call status, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education (experience can be substituted for education): Associate's Degree in Sonography from approved program OR Associate Degree in Radiology from approved program, minimumally Required.
  • Work Experience (education can be substituted for experience): Up To 1 Year Preferred.
