Registered Sonographer - Echo-days

Full-time day shift position in the Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) at Carilion Clinic, located in Roanoke, Virginia. Schedule is Monday-Friday 6:30 AM–5:00 PM with variable hours, rotating call, occasional weekends, and rotating holiday call.

Responsibilities

• Perform transthoracic echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms, contrast and agitated saline studies.
• Conduct clinical trials and research, including low-dose Dobutamine stress testing for aortic stenosis.
• Assist with cardiac surgery OR procedures and cardiac structural procedures, such as:
  • Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)
  • Transcatheter mitral valve repair (MitraClip)
  • Left atrial appendage closure (Watchman)
  • PFO and ASD closure
  • Impella left ventricular support device
  • Left ventricular remodeling (clinical trial)
• Assess patients before, during, and after procedures according to Imaging Services/Departmental Guidelines.
• Operate specialized equipment, including radiographic, CR, DR, and PACS systems.
• Train students and staff as assigned.
• Create a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
• Assess and interpret patient data to identify needs and provide care per applicable policies.
• Collaborate with patients, families, visitors, and healthcare team members to develop and coordinate care plans.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Graduate of an approved School of Ultrasound or equivalent training.
• ARDMS or CCI Echocardiography registry required (or eligibility to obtain registry).
• BLS certification required.
• Experienced sonographer with hospital-based experience preferred, but new registered graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Strong interpersonal and technical skills, with flexibility in assignments.
