About the role
Respiratory Therapist responsible for administering respiratory therapy modalities in accordance with policies and protocols, ensuring safe and quality care for patients of all ages.
Responsibilities
- Initiate and manage ventilator care, weaning, artificial airway care, and associated equipment setup.
- Perform chest physical therapy, postural drainage, incentive exercises, and ambulation as indicated.
- Conduct clinical diagnostic tests such as bedside spirometry and pulmonary function tests.
- Assess patient respiratory status, monitor therapy response, and evaluate treatment appropriateness.
- Maintain accurate patient and departmental records, documenting therapy and outcomes.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an acute care setting preferred.
- Certified by the National Board for Respiratory Care (CRT or RRT), with a preference to advance to RRT within 2 years.
- Current licensure as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of Massachusetts.
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications; additional certifications required within 1 year.
Skills
- Strong clinical assessment, equipment management, documentation, and patient care skills.
- Experience with neonatal and pediatric care is preferred.
