Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

About the Role

The Respiratory Therapist administers and manages respiratory care for patients of all ages, ensuring safe and quality treatment in accordance with established policies and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and perform various respiratory therapies, including ventilator care, airway management, and weaning techniques.
• Conduct chest physical therapy, postural drainage, and pulmonary function tests such as bedside spirometry.
• Assess patient respiratory status, monitor responses to therapy, and adjust treatments as needed.
• Maintain accurate patient and departmental records, documenting therapy details and outcomes.
• Participate in clinical education and ensure adherence to safety standards.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Minimum of 2 years of acute care experience preferred.
• Certification as a CRT or RRT by the National Board for Respiratory Care, with a goal to advance to RRT within 2 years.
• Current licensure in Massachusetts, with certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP.
• Additional certifications required within 1 year of employment.

Skills

• Preferred experience in neonatal and pediatric care.
