About the Role
The Respiratory Therapist administers and manages respiratory care for patients of all ages, ensuring safe and quality treatment in accordance with established policies and protocols.
Responsibilities
- Initiate and perform various respiratory therapies, including ventilator care, airway management, and weaning techniques.
- Conduct chest physical therapy, postural drainage, and pulmonary function tests such as bedside spirometry.
- Assess patient respiratory status, monitor responses to therapy, and adjust treatments as needed.
- Maintain accurate patient and departmental records, documenting therapy details and outcomes.
- Participate in clinical education and ensure adherence to safety standards.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
- Minimum of 2 years of acute care experience preferred.
- Certification as a CRT or RRT by the National Board for Respiratory Care, with a goal to advance to RRT within 2 years.
- Current licensure in Massachusetts, with certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP.
- Additional certifications required within 1 year of employment.
Skills
- Preferred experience in neonatal and pediatric care.
