About the role
This position is sign on bonus eligible. Hours are 24 per week, Monday through Friday, with the option to work weekends. The major responsibilities include administering therapeutic procedures, performing diagnostic procedures, monitoring mechanical ventilators, evaluating therapies, communicating with the healthcare team, and performing emergency respiratory care. The role requires a RRT credential and current licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner/Licensed Respiratory Therapist.
Responsibilities
- Administers therapeutic procedures and understands their purpose and effects.
- Performs diagnostic procedures as outlined in policy.
- Monitors and maintains mechanical ventilators and non-invasive ventilators.
- Evaluates current therapies and recommends changes to the plan of care.
- Documents therapy and results as required by hospital and regulatory agencies.
- Communicates information to appropriate members of the healthcare team.
- Initiates, conducts, and modifies respiratory care techniques in emergency settings.
- Performs and evaluates blood sampling analysis.
- Works independently in all patient care areas and assists co-workers with patient care.
- Is proficient in the electronic medical records and its interface with the Respiratory Care Department.
- Follows departmental safety guidelines.
- Completes all regulatory requirements.
- Completes annual proficiency evaluations of respiratory care equipment and procedures.
Requirements
- Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Currently licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner/Licensed Respiratory Therapist in the state where they work.
- Basic Life Support for healthcare providers through the American Heart Association required.
- Advanced certifications per facility/department.
- Graduate of an approved school of Respiratory Therapy or have an associate’s degree in respiratory therapy.
- For Free-Standing Emergency Department: 2 years critical care experience required or a bachelor’s or higher in Respiratory Therapy with 1-year critical care experience.
- For all other areas: new graduates with RRT credentials or experienced Respiratory Therapists with RRT credentials are eligible for this job code.

Pay
Pay range is $30.70 - $46.05 per hour.
