About the role
The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) performs a variety of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, including ABG analysis, PFTs, ventilator support, oxygen and aerosol therapy, bronchial hygiene, and airway maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Conducts respiratory therapies such as oxygen administration, aerosol treatments, airway maintenance, and mechanical ventilation.
- Performs diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function tests, and electrocardiograms.
- Prepares treatment evaluations through physical assessment, patient interviews, and review of medical records.
- Interprets patient data like CXR, ABG, and PFT results.
- Operates, checks, and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and safety.
- Participates in infection control, safety, and quality assurance tasks.
- Maintains all equipment and work areas, ensuring cleanliness and functionality.
- Utilizes effective communication to enhance patient satisfaction and performs other related duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
- Current BLS and ACLS certification; NRP and PALS within 1 year of hire.
- Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in good standing and registered with the NBRC.
- At least 6 months of respiratory care experience.
- Proficiency with respiratory assessment, treatment, and equipment troubleshooting.
- Ability to interpret diagnostic data and perform critical thinking in patient care.
