Registered Respiratory Therapist-Full-Time

Reports to the team leader. The chief objective of this position is to demonstrate knowledge and skill in Respiratory Care with an emphasis in critical care.

Requirements

  • Associate of Science in Respiratory Care, or graduate of an NBRC and AMA approved Respiratory Program meeting requirement for eligibility of the NBRC Exam
  • One (1) year of clinical experience as a respiratory therapist (clinical training from an accredited Respiratory Care program is acceptable)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care
  • State-approved license to practice respiratory care in Tennessee, ABG endorsed
  • Current AHA BLS certification (completed prior to starting and maintained)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field
  • Two to three (2-3) years of critical care experience as a registered therapist
  • Current ACLS, PALS, or NRP certification

Responsibilities

  • Understand and apply principles and practices of respiratory therapy
  • Demonstrate proficiency with all equipment utilized in the respiratory care department
  • Perform critical care and general floor care assessments for patients from school-age to older adults
  • Participate in the CQI team for data collection and process improvements
  • Recommend effective utilization of available respiratory technology
  • Adjust and correct respiratory care and equipment as needed
  • Serve as a preceptor for new employees and peers in advanced training
  • Assist with clinical training of respiratory therapy students (teaching hospital role)
  • Support clinical-based research projects related to respiratory care efficiency and appropriateness
  • Perform airway management and CPR
  • Exhibit strong organizational and communication skills in patient care areas
