Registered Respiratory Therapist - Emergency Department

About the role

As a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in the Emergency Department (ED), you will support a diverse patient population, with many managing chronic respiratory disorders, critical illnesses and related symptoms. In this role, combining your skills with a compassionate attitude and outlook can make a difference in the lives of patients and their families. Responsibilities

• Provide assessment, treatment, care and evaluation to patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
• Direct respiratory caregivers for delivery of care.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Assess patients for the appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop, implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.
• Monitor, record and communicate patient condition.
• Perform advanced respiratory care modalities, evaluate respiratory practice, administer medications/treatments and perform blood gas puncture and analysis.
• Educate patients and families about the illness and provide information about community support groups and other programs.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care
• Ohio Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) Board Licensure
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) Certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) depending on department

Qualifications

• Experience in critical care
• Neonatal/pediatric experience when appropriate for site
• Experience performing invasive procedures preferred when appropriate for site
• Bachelor’s Degree

Skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in computer systems and software applications

Pay

Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $36.75
Maximum hourly: $48.55

Schedule

A caregiver who excels in this role works nights from 7:00PM – 7:30AM.
