Responsibilities
- Performs polysomnographic procedures on patients under the general supervision of the physician (or designee) to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders.
- Gathers and analyzes patient information.
- Performs test preparation procedures.
- Performs polysomnographic record scoring.
- Demonstrates professional work behavior and excellent customer service routinely in all interactions.
- Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.
Requirements
- Required - Technical Degree or Diploma in Polysomnography
- Preferred - Associates Degree in Electroneurodiagnostic Technology/Polysom, Respiratory Therapy/Polysom, Sleep Technology
- Required - Certified Respiratory Care Therapist - Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Respiratory Care
- Required - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
- Required - Polysomnography Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners
- Preferred - Registered Respiratory Therapist Sleep Disorder Specialist - National Board for Respiratory Care
- Preferred - Registered Respiratory Therapist - Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Respiratory Care
- Preferred - Registered Polysomnographic Technologist - Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists
Qualifications
- Required - No prior work experience
- Positive interpersonal skills with patients, their families, physicians, department staff and other members of hospital staff
- Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment in a professional area
- Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of own and others’ work flow
Skills
- Competency in performing polysomnographic procedures, including knowledge of event characteristics (e.g., respiratory, cardiac, sleep stage, seizures, etc.) and ability to take appropriate action
- Basic computer operations skills including use of Windows operating system
- Positive interpersonal skills with patients, their families, physicians, department staff and other members of hospital staff
- Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment in a professional area
- Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of own and others’ work flow
