Responsibilities

• Performs polysomnographic procedures on patients under the general supervision of the physician (or designee) to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders.
• Gathers and analyzes patient information.
• Performs test preparation procedures.
• Performs polysomnographic record scoring.
• Demonstrates professional work behavior and excellent customer service routinely in all interactions.
• Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.

Requirements

• Required - Technical Degree or Diploma in Polysomnography
• Preferred - Associates Degree in Electroneurodiagnostic Technology/Polysom, Respiratory Therapy/Polysom, Sleep Technology
• Required - Certified Respiratory Care Therapist - Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Respiratory Care
• Required - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
• Required - Polysomnography Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners
• Preferred - Registered Respiratory Therapist Sleep Disorder Specialist - National Board for Respiratory Care
• Preferred - Registered Respiratory Therapist - Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Respiratory Care
• Preferred - Registered Polysomnographic Technologist - Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists

Qualifications

• Required - No prior work experience
• Positive interpersonal skills with patients, their families, physicians, department staff and other members of hospital staff
• Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment in a professional area
• Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of own and others’ work flow

Skills

• Competency in performing polysomnographic procedures, including knowledge of event characteristics (e.g., respiratory, cardiac, sleep stage, seizures, etc.) and ability to take appropriate action
• Basic computer operations skills including use of Windows operating system
• Positive interpersonal skills with patients, their families, physicians, department staff and other members of hospital staff
• Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment in a professional area
• Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of own and others’ work flow
