Job Summary

Location: 515 N 162nd Ave #103 Omaha, NE 68118
Schedule: Casual rotating day and night shift hours
Conduct all aspects of sleep diagnostic sing.

Responsibilities

  • Positive relations when interacting with patients, visitors, families, physicians, customers, and coworkers.
  • Greet, smiles and makes eye contact.
    Introduces self by name.
    Volunteers to help co-workers and other employees.
    Addresses patients and others by surname.
    Responds quickly to patients and/or other peoples' needs.
  • Gather and Analyze Patient Information.
  • Completes and verifies documentation.
  • Explains pre-sing, sing, and post sing procedures to the patient.
  • Prepares and calibrates equipment for sing.
  • Determine proper functioning and make adjustments, if necessary, to equipment.
  • Applies electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards.
  • Performs appropriate physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals and make adjustments if necessary.
  • Performs positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting.
  • Polysomnographic procedures:
    • Follows procedural protocols such as MSLT, MWT, Parasomnia studies, positive airway pressure, and oxygen titration.
    • Performs data acquisition while monitoring.
    • Documents routine observations including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure and significant events in order to facilitate scoring.
  • Polysomnographic record scoring.
  • Scores sleep/wake stages according to guidelines.
  • Scores clinical events according to protocols.
  • Generates accurate reports for physician review.
  • Facilitates communication to pulmonologists for interpretation.
  • Maintains supply inventory.
  • Maintains supply orders as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D) required.
  • Experience: 3 to 6 months experience in sleep sing is preferred.
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • Registered Polysomnographic Tech (RPSGT) certification through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) required at the time of hire or within 12 months of hire if currently a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Registered EEG Technician (R.EEGT).
    • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Good understanding of all aspects of sleep diagnostic sing.
  • Ability to perform Multiple Sleep Latency Testing (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Testing (MWT), and scoring polysomnograms.

  • Weight Demands: Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force.
  • Physical Activity: Occasionally Performed (1%-33%): Climbing, Crawling, Kneeling, Sitting; Frequently Performed (34%-66%): Balancing, Carrying, Crouching, Keyboarding/typing, Lifting, Pulling/Pushing, Repetitive Motions, Standing; Constantly Performed (67%-100%): Grasping, Hearing, Reaching, Seeing/Visual, Speaking/talking.

  • Not Related: Explosives (pressurized gas), Electrical Shock/Static, Radiation Alpha, Beta and Gamma (particles such as X-ray, Cat Scan, Gamma Knife, etc), Radiation Non-Ionizing (Ultraviolet, visible light, infrared and microwaves that causes injuries to tissue or thermal or photochemical means).
  • Rare (1-33%): Chemical agents (Toxic, Corrosive, Flammable, Latex), Mechanical moving parts/vibrations.
  • Occasionally (34%-66%): Biological agents (primary air born and blood born viruses) (Jobs with Patient contact) (BBF), Physical hazards (noise, temperature, lighting, wet floors, outdoors, sharps) (more than ordinary office environment).
  • Equipment/Machinery/Tools: Alpha, Beta and Gamma (particles such as X-ray, Cat Scan, Gamma Knife, etc), Radiation Non-Ionizing (Ultraviolet, visible light, infrared and microwaves that causes injuries to tissue or thermal or photochemical means).
