Setting & Population Served
- Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) providing long-term care and short-term, sub-acute rehabilitation
- Collaborative, interdisciplinary team approach with nursing, therapy, and medical staff
- Diverse patient population with orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, and post-acute needs
Requirements
- NBCOT certified upon hire (renewal optional thereafter)
- Graduate of an accredited occupational-therapy program (BSOT or MSOT)
- Current State registration/license; must remain in good standing
- One year of experience preferred; new graduates welcome
- CPR certification (obtained upon hire or during orientation; must remain current)
Responsibilities
- Provide direct occupational-therapy care upon physician referral, following all laws, regulations, and Life Care standards
- Participate in community health matters and projects as appropriate
- Liaise with patients, families, and support departments to plan for patient needs
- Demonstrate good body mechanics and make independent decisions when warranted
- Implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
- Perform competently in areas including patient rights, safety, and sanitation
- Maintain professional relationships with associates and vendors
- Follow occupational treatment plans (activities of daily living) and set, assess, and modify functional goals
- Oversee and evaluate care given by OTAs, Rehab Aides, and students
- Chart appropriately and timely; utilize therapy software accurately
- Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude
- Assist in patient evacuation as needed
- Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
- Concentrate, use reasoning skills, and communicate effectively on an interdisciplinary team
Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours
- Read, write, speak, and understand English
