Registered Nurse - Trauma ICU - Part Time Nights

Member of the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with the Physician. Utilizes the nursing care process consistent with license and/or certification, including initiation of culturally competent continuum of care across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. Responsible for overseeing coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care and ensuring consistency with the medical treatment plan.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment: Identification, gathering, and organization of subjective and objective data pertaining to the patient/family/significant other, including physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural aspects.
  • Planning: Identification of actual or potential problems and desired outcomes (goals) resulting in a documented plan of care.
  • Intervention: Implementation of specific interventions consistent with the plan of care and medical treatment plan.
  • Evaluation: Determining the effectiveness of interventions, documenting conclusions, and initiating reassessment or revisions as needed.
  • Perform Limited Laboratory Services, including patient identification, specimen collection, processing samples, quality control testing, instrument maintenance, monitoring and recording test results, and maintaining competency.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and provide leadership to other members of the patient care team.
  • Engage in educational activities for continued professional and personal growth.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Nurses hired without a BSN must enroll in a BSN program within 1 year and complete it within 3 years.
  • Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey or a current multi-state license.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Valid NJ Driver’s License required for employees in Adult and Child Partial Programs.
  • Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at hire; training provided within 30-60 days for incumbents.

Specialty-Specific Requirements

  • Emergency Room (City):
    • 2 years medical/surgical and/or emergency room experience preferred.
    • ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer.
    • ATCN or TNCC required within 24 months of hire or transfer.
    • Minimum of 8 contact hours of education annually in basic trauma assessment, intervention, and stabilization.
    • Minimum of 8 contact hours of education annually in basic stroke assessment, intervention, and NIHSS (to be completed within 6 months of hire and maintained thereafter).
    • PALS or ENPC required within 12 months of hire or transfer.
    • CPI required by 6/30/24 for current staff; new hires must obtain within 6 months and maintain thereafter.
    • Trauma Bay: Trauma experience required; 2 years preferred. ACLS, PALS, and ATCN required at time of hire.
  • Trauma/ICU (3 Harmony):
    • 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; critical care experience preferred.
    • ACLS required at time of hire.
    • ATCN required within 3 years of hire or transfer.
  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU/CTICU):
    • 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; critical care experience preferred.
    • ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer.
    • CCRN preferred.
  • Cardiovascular ICU (CVU):
    • 2 years critical care and Cardiovascular ICU experience preferred.
    • ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer.
    • CCRN preferred.
  • Heart and Vascular Unit (HVU):
    • 2 years telemetry experience preferred.
    • ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer.
  • Harbor (PCU):
    • 2 years telemetry experience preferred.
    • ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer.
  • Pines/3 Central (Medical/Surgical):
    • Medical/surgical experience preferred.
    • ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer.
  • 1 South/1 Meadow (Medical/Surgical):
    • Medical/surgical experience preferred.
    • ACLS required within 1 year of hire or transfer.
  • 2 South/2 Meadow, 5 Harmony, 7 Harmony, 4 Michigan, 4 Harmony (Medical/Surgical):
    • Medical/surgical experience preferred.
  • Med Surg/Cardiac/Stroke Care (2 West/2 Pines, 6 Harmony):
    • Medical/surgical experience preferred.
    • ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer.
  • Pre-Admission Testing (PAT):
    • Medical/surgical experience preferred.
  • Operating Room:
    • Medical/surgical and operating room experience preferred.
    • All new OR team members must scrub and/or learn to scrub during orientation within six months (effective 1/1/25).
    • ACLS required by 12/31/24 for all RNs in the City OR.
    • CNOR preferred.
  • PACU/Same Day Surgery/Recovery Room:
    • Critical care or PACU experience required.
    • ACLS required at time of hire or transfer.
    • PALS required within 6 months of hire or transfer.
  • Interventional Radiology:
    • 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; interventional and critical care experience preferred.
    • ACLS required at time of hire or transfer.
    • PALS required within 1 year of hire or transfer.
  • Cath Lab (Cath Lab Holding, Electrophysiology):
    • Critical care, emergency room, cath-lab, or telemetry experience preferred.
    • ACLS required at time of hire or transfer.
  • Endoscopy:
    • 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; endoscopy, telemetry, and critical care experience preferred.
    • ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer.
    • PALS, CCRN, and CGRN preferred.
  • Radiation Oncology (Cancer Center Institute):
    • Oncology experience preferred.
    • OCN preferred.
  • Medical Oncology Infusion Services (Cancer Center Institute):
    • Oncology experience preferred.
    • ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Competency Provider required within 6 months of hire or transfer.
    • OCN preferred.
  • Structural Heart:
    • 2 years’ experience in cardiology.
    • Able to perform phlebotomy, EKG, and IV insertion.
    • ACLS required at time of hire or transfer.
  • Emergency Room (Mainland Satellite Hammonton):
    • 2 years medical/surgical and/or emergency room experience preferred.
    • ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer.
    • Minimum of 8 contact hours of education annually in basic trauma assessment, intervention, and stabilization.
    • Minimum of 8 contact hours of education annually in basic stroke assessment, intervention, and NIHSS (to be completed within 6 months of hire and maintained thereafter).
