Responsibilities
- Direct and review the work of nursing staff
- Prepare and monitor staffing schedules
- Develop daily staffing plans for nursing care
- Ensure compliance with established standards of nursing care in accordance with State, federal, and accreditation agency requirements
Requirements
Candidates may qualify through one of the following pathways:
- NY HELPS (Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide):
- License and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State
- 3 years of post‑licensure clinical nursing experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness, addiction, or substance use disorders
- Education substitutions: a Bachelor’s degree in nursing substitutes for 1 year of experience; a Master’s degree in nursing substitutes for 2 years of experience
- Competitive class appointment (internal candidates): reachable on the current Nurse Administrator 1 Psychiatric or Nurse Administrator 2 Psychiatric eligible list
- Transfer (internal candidates): one year of permanent competitive or 55‑b/55‑c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law

Pay
Posted hiring rate: $82,326 (statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 22) + $10,852 (Increased Hiring Rate) + $35,000 (Geographic Pay Differential) + $4,000 (Downstate Adjustment) = $132,178.
Posted job rate: $10,230 (statutory job rate) + $35,000 (Geographic Pay Differential) + $4,000 (Downstate Adjustment) = $49,230.
Additional compensation may apply based on shift assignment: 7% shift differential for evening shift; 10% shift differential for night shift.
