About the Role
Provide professional psychiatric nursing care across diverse age groups, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Design and implement individualized care plans to promote recovery, ensuring adherence to hospital policies and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Assess mental, emotional, social, and behavioral health of patients through interviews and observations.
- Administer medications, treatments, and coordinate procedures; perform nursing intakes and collect specimens.
- Write treatment plans, provide patient and family education, and facilitate communication among care teams.
- Monitor patient behavior, document symptoms, and perform crisis intervention when needed.
- Follow policies, participate in professional development, and assist with special tests and emergency measures.
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment, promote patient safety, and support quality improvement initiatives.
- Serve as a preceptor for new staff, contribute to research and program development, and perform administrative tasks.
Requirements
- Graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program; RN licensure in NM or reciprocal.
- CPR/BLS certification; ability to perform heavy physical work.
- Experience in mental health settings preferred; bilingual skills advantageous.
