Registered Nurse, SICU, Nights -VUH
About the role
Vanderbilt University Medical Center is a community dedicated to advancing health and wellness through teaching, discovery, and patient care. SICU 10 is a 23-bed unit focusing on the care of critically ill surgical patients, including emergency general surgery, liver transplants, vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, otolaryngology surgery, orthopaedics, and multisystem organ failure.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinating and implementing care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
- Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
- Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
- Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of RN experience
- Nursing degree
- State or Compact License (TN license within 60 days of getting TN address even if compact license)
Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved discipline specific program

Position Highlights
The person in this role will work three 12-hour shifts from 7:00p - 7:00a for a total of 36 hours per week to include some weekends. The unit has a nurse to patient ratio of 1:2 and cares for critically ill surgical patients, including emergency general surgery, liver transplants, vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, otolaryngology surgery, orthopaedics, multisystem organ failure, and sepsis.
