About the role
RN SANE Peds, providing specialized care for sexual assault patients.
Responsibilities
- Conduct physical and forensic exams
- Obtain evidence with proper chain of custody
- Document assessments
- Facilitate injuries requiring treatment
- Provide crisis intervention
- Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
- Coordinate with law enforcement and advocacy groups
- Educate patients on procedures, STD and pregnancy prevention, and follow-up care
- Participate in training and legal testimony related to SANE cases
Qualifications
- Completion of IAFN-accredited SANE P course with Illinois clinical component
- RN licensure in Illinois
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree
- Preferred: emergency or women's health experience
- Preferred: minimum one year as a SANE RN
Skills
- Knowledge of forensic nursing, evidence collection, patient assessment, and legal procedures
- Excellent communication, confidentiality, and crisis management skills
