Registered Nurse SANE Pediatrics - Emergency Department - Per Diem

About the role

This role involves delivering compassionate, high-quality specialized care for sexual assault patients in a hospital setting, pursuing professional growth, and adhering to organizational values.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical and forensic assessments in accordance with state and hospital guidelines.
• Collect evidence using Illinois State Police Evidence Collection Kits with proper consent and maintain chain of custody.
• Facilitate forensic photography and document assessments, evidence, and interventions.
• Provide crisis intervention, patient education on exams, procedures, STD and pregnancy prevention, and follow-up care.
• Coordinate with law enforcement, advocacy groups, and ensure patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Participate in educational activities for healthcare providers, law enforcement, and the community.
• Provide legal testimony related to SANE cases when requested.

Requirements

• Completion of IAFN-accredited SANE-P course for pediatrics with Illinois clinical requirements.
• Current Illinois RN licensure and ability to practice as a SANE nurse.

Qualifications

• Preferred: Baccalaureate Degree or higher in Nursing.
• Preferred: Experience in emergency medicine or women’s health.
• Preferred: At least one year as a SANE RN.
