REGISTERED NURSE - SALINAS VALLEY STATE PRISON (SVSP)

Job Description and Duties

Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented in response to the status of the State budget. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 17, and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 3 percent and will receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly for at least 16 months. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.

Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions as full-time employees, on a prorated basis equivalent to their time-base. Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition as full-time employees, based on the number of hours worked in the pay period.

Under the supervision of the Supervising Registered Nurse II/III, Correctional Facility (CF), the Registered Nurse (RN), CF organizes and provides necessary nursing care in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and program requirements in a variety of correctional health care settings.

The RN, CF in collaboration with the health care team ensures the delivery of appropriate and timely health care to patients and coordinates interdisciplinary communication to promote continuity of care.

The RN, CF is responsible for addressing the ongoing health care needs of patients and for promoting the timely, efficient, and appropriate use of health care resources.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Current California Registered Nurse license
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field
  • Experience in correctional health care setting preferred
  • Knowledge of correctional health care policies and procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Benefits

While we strive to offer competitive compensation and benefits, the salary range for this position is $2,201.40 to $2,624.40 per month. Additional benefits may include:

The monthly part-time salary range for this position is $2,201.40 to $2,624.40.

Schedule

This part-time position will be working 8 hours per week.
