About the role

Knoxville Rehabilitation Hospital is a state-of-the-art, 57-bed inpatient acute rehabilitation hospital dedicated to the treatment and recovery of individuals who have experienced the debilitating effects of a severe injury or illness. Our rehabilitation programs provide ongoing care and specialized treatment to patients throughout their recovery journey.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessments to identify wound care needs and appropriate interventions.
  • Evaluate patient progress and wound healing outcomes, adjusting care plans as needed.
  • Initiate and implement nursing interventions tailored to the patient's condition.
  • Provide direct wound care based on patient condition and age-specific needs.
  • Educate patients and families on wound care procedures, prevention strategies, and discharge instructions.
  • Provide clinical staff education related to wound care treatment plans, procedures, and best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Requires strong assessment, planning, and communication skills.
  • Must be able to collaborate across disciplines to ensure continuity of care.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program, accredited by the Tennessee State Board of Nursing, and all other appropriate accreditation required to obtain Registered Nursing license.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in wound care required.
  • License: Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • Certifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required; ACLS preferred; WOCN certification preferred.
  • Candidate will be expected to obtain WOCN Certification after one year of employment in role, if not previously certified.
