About the Unit
7SW (Surgical & General Trauma Unit) is a 33-bed adult inpatient surgical unit located on the 7th floor, occupying the south and west wings. The patient population includes, but is not limited to: Trauma, General Surgery, Urology, Orthopedics, Gynecology, and Medicine. The unit is semi-private, and RNs work alongside a Patient Care Technician (PCT). A charge RN is assigned for both shifts to facilitate immediate unit needs and act as a direct resource.
Acute nursing care treatment and monitoring modalities include periodic vital signs, centralized telemetry, oxygen monitoring, glucose monitoring, and wound care. Most common diagnoses and surgical procedures are traumatic brain injury, polytraumas, cholecystectomies, prostatectomies, joint replacements, percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), urinary diversions and other urologic procedures, bowel resections, and ostomies.
Requirements
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing (BSN or ADN)
- BLS provider certification (accredited by the American Heart Association) required prior to hire
- Illinois Board of Nursing license prior to hire
- 1 year of experience preferred (new graduates welcome)
Pay
BSN Pay Range: $36.05 - $59.92 per hour
ADN Pay Range: $32.90 - $57.06 per hour
Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
