Registered Nurse - General Surgery/Trauma - RN

About the role

The role is located at Francis 4 (FR4C) Trauma/Critical Care/General Surgery (General Care) in Rochester, MN. It is a general care area providing care to trauma and general surgery patients. The position is full-time with variable schedules including days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Patient Care Type: General care area providing care to trauma and general surgery patients.
• Nursing Team Roles: Focuses on holistic patient care, patient education, complex wound management, discharge planning, promoting independence, and achieving optimal outcomes.

• Supports Professional Nursing Practice: Functions within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, accountable for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating nursing care.
• Delegates Patient Care: Delegates patient care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource availability.
• Communicates Effectively: Possesses excellent communication skills; mentors and teaches; may participate on committees or projects.
• Adapts to Unpredictable Situations: Works flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a nursing program, as recognized by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA.
• One year of RN experience required.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Experience working in a team environment.
• Computer skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours.
• Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.
