About the role

The position involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the total nursing care of assigned patients. The RN works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and the Director, utilizing communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to create a care plan for each patient.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ability to assess patient clinical and psychosocial needs by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population.
  • Demonstrates nursing unit specific competencies and equipment training.
  • Partners with patients and their family to develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of care, treatments, and procedures that contribute to physiological and psychosocial outcomes of the patient.
  • Incorporates evidence-based standards of practice and collaborates with interdisciplinary team in care coordination.
  • Facilitates safe patient transition to next level of care as part of the plan of care.
  • Focuses on quality outcomes of patient when addressing service needs to ensure evidence-based quality care of the patient.
  • Modifies education methods to ensure patient/family understanding.
  • Assumes responsibility to coordinate and deliver individualized patient education and discharge-specific education to family/caregivers.
  • Evaluates for comprehension and documents accurately.
  • Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Delegates and prioritizes tasks appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and service excellence to meet the patient's care needs.
  • Recognizes and responds to emergency situations.
  • Evaluates resources and support needed and uses systems to ensure needs are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, Nursing (Preferred)
  • Associate's Degree, Nursing (Preferred)
  • Program Graduate, Nursing (Nursing Diploma is minimum education requirement, Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Nursing accepted in lieu of Nursing Diploma)
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) or licensed in a compact state
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC)

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelors Degree, Nursing (Preferred) or Associates Degree, Nursing (Preferred) or Program Graduate, Nursing (Nursing Diploma is minimum education requirement, Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Nursing accepted in lieu of Nursing Diploma)
  • Licenses and Certifications: Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) or licensed in a compact state Upon Hire, CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire

Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
