About the role
The Surgical Care Center of Michigan is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. Located in Grand Rapids, MI, this part-time position offers flexibility with 2 days a week and 16-20 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Affirms the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others under his/her direction.
- Supervises and directs patient care in an individual Operating Room.
- Ensures adherence to HIPAA regulations and maintains knowledge of patient rights.
- Performs duties in an ethical and legal manner within the scope of their license.
- Positions patient, prepares operative area, and adjusts table to proper position.
- Maintains count on sponges, needles and instruments to ensure no loss of items.
- Verifies and administers medications according to established policies and procedures.
- Cares for specimens and cultures as directed by set policies and procedures.
- Accompanies patient to PACU and gives report to Post-Op Nurse.
- Assists in control and maintenance of supplies and equipment.
- Records use of equipment and method directed.
- Checks rooms, material and equipment for proper care and handling.
- Ensures clean, safe environment through continued alertness to safety and aseptic techniques.
- Assists in control of traffic and personnel to ensure proper control of infection and asepsis.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.
- Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
- One year of previous nursing experience in at least one of the following settings preferred: Operating Room, surgical, ambulatory surgical center (ASC), Pre/Post-Op, PACU, ICU, Medical Surgical or Telemetry floors.

- Visual and auditory acuity including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Occasional driving or climbing may also be necessary.
