About the role

The Surgical Care Center of Michigan is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. Located in Grand Rapids, MI, this part-time position offers flexibility with 2 days a week and 16-20 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Affirms the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others under his/her direction.
  • Supervises and directs patient care in an individual Operating Room.
  • Ensures adherence to HIPAA regulations and maintains knowledge of patient rights.
  • Performs duties in an ethical and legal manner within the scope of their license.
  • Positions patient, prepares operative area, and adjusts table to proper position.
  • Maintains count on sponges, needles and instruments to ensure no loss of items.
  • Verifies and administers medications according to established policies and procedures.
  • Cares for specimens and cultures as directed by set policies and procedures.
  • Accompanies patient to PACU and gives report to Post-Op Nurse.
  • Assists in control and maintenance of supplies and equipment.
  • Records use of equipment and method directed.
  • Checks rooms, material and equipment for proper care and handling.
  • Ensures clean, safe environment through continued alertness to safety and aseptic techniques.
  • Assists in control of traffic and personnel to ensure proper control of infection and asepsis.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.
  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • One year of previous nursing experience in at least one of the following settings preferred: Operating Room, surgical, ambulatory surgical center (ASC), Pre/Post-Op, PACU, ICU, Medical Surgical or Telemetry floors.

  • Maintains effective communication with patients, families, physicians, and other staff.

  • Good communication skills: oral and written.
  • Able to work independently and within a group.
  • Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands.
  • Visual and auditory acuity including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasional driving or climbing may also be necessary.

Pay

$20.00 - $25.00 per hour based on experience.

Schedule

Part time - 2 days a week / 16-20 hours per week.
