Registered Nurse (RN) - Outpatient Infusion

Responsibilities

• Engage in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence‑based practices.
• Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families throughout the continuum of care.
• Monitor patient conditions, adjust care plans, mobilize resources, and collaborate with the care team to influence outcomes.
• Uphold and promote a culture of safety and continuously evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes, taking action as needed.
• Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely according to clinical protocols and procedures.
• Demonstrate effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution, fostering team collaboration and appropriate delegation.
• Pursue professional development, complete required education, and maintain certifications.
• Adhere to the ANA Code of Ethics, practice ethical decision‑making, respect interdisciplinary roles, and contribute to integrated, unbiased patient care.
• Delegate appropriately to Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and unlicensed assistive personnel (e.g., nurse aides, credentialed medical assistants).
• Maintain accurate, timely EHR documentation.
• Float to other units, departments, care areas, or facilities within the designated service area as needed to meet patient care needs.
• Provide age‑appropriate care based on knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan and departmental policies.

Education

• Graduate of a Board of Nursing‑approved nursing education program (required).

Preferred Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Certification / Registration / License

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license – multi‑state compact and/or single‑state – with privileges to practice in the state(s) where services are provided.
• For telehealth/telenursing/virtual modalities, the RN must be licensed or hold practice privileges in the state(s) where the client(s) are located and must comply with all applicable state laws, rules, and regulations.

Experience

• Typically requires 2 years of clinical nursing experience.

• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
• Proficiency with computer functions (e‑mail, electronic health records, digital platforms, etc.).

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, reaching above shoulders, and twisting.
• Ability to lift and support up to 35 lb; push/pull with 30 lb of force; perform a sliding transfer of 150 lb with a second person present.
• Functional speech, vision, hearing, and fine‑motor skills for IV insertion and other procedures.
• Ability to maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.
• Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de‑escalation when needed.
• Potential exposure to chemical and hazardous waste, blood, body fluids, and communicable diseases; use of protective clothing and equipment as required.
• Must respond quickly to changes in patient or unit conditions.
• Physical abilities testing may be required; additional department‑specific physical requirements may be identified by the nurse leader.
