General Duties
- Delivers safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the operating room and other areas of perioperative services for all patient populations.
- Validates and documents correct patient, procedure, and site.
- Insures appropriate preparation of the operating room and patient for specific procedures.
- Plans care to insure a safe peri-operative experience for patient and staff.
- Patient assessment
- Perioperative plan of care
- Protects patient from injury
- Performs count procedures to protect patient
- Insures correct site, side, and level for procedure
- Manages specimens in appropriate manner
- Administers medications appropriately
- Protects patient’s rights, dignity, and privacy
- Delegates tasks appropriately according to CA nurse practice act
- Documents nursing care
- Participates in performance improvement
- Maintains required competencies
- Acts as patient advocate
Qualifications
- Current OR experience required
- Required: Bachelors in Nursing from an accredited professional nursing program
- Current RN licensure in the State of California
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification (maintain current at all times)
- 1 year of OR experience
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate with people on all levels and able to maintain positive working relationships with patients, families, and co-workers inter- and intra-departmentally
- Possess active listening skills
- Demonstrates knowledge of current nursing theory and practice
- Compassionate, non-judgmental patient caregiver and advocate
- Must be able to tolerate physically and mentally demanding work
- Possesses audible acuity necessary for taking blood pressures and maintaining patient safety

Salary
$57.00 - $87.60 hourly
