Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room
Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) at St. Francis Hospital is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the delivery of patient care. The professional nurse assumes the responsibility and accountability for the delegation of patient care to other members of the healthcare team. The RN also assists the scrub nurse, prepares the operating room, maintains records, ensures compliance with safety, asepsis, and Universal Protocol, and communicates with the charge RN.
- Assist scrub nurse; perform scrub duties as needed
- Prepare OR: supplies, equipment, sterile packs, medications
- Maintain records; ensure compliance with safety, asepsis, and Universal Protocol
- Proficient in Meditech; troubleshoot and operate unit-specific equipment
- Handle specimens, implants, and instruments per policy
- Provide patient/family support in high-stress settings; post-mortem care
- Use and update surgeon preference cards; maintain OR stock
- Communicate with charge RN; act as resource for surgical team
- Assist anesthesia with intubations
Requirements
- Associates Degree in Nursing required; BSN highly preferred
- Current DE or Compact State RN License required
- Current BCLS required or obtained by completion of orientation
- ACLS required or obtained by completion of orientation if Applicable to Area of Practice
- 2 years perioperative nursing experience preferred or Successful completion of a perioperative nursing course including didactic and clinical rotations
- CNOR certification preferred
