Registered Nurse (RN) - Night Shift

About the Role

Provides clinical oversight and direct patient care in a mental health or geriatric setting, ensuring treatment plans are followed, assessments are completed, and medication administration is performed. Responsible for supervising nursing staff, developing care plans, and maintaining accurate documentation. Ensures a safe, therapeutic environment, adheres to policies on patient rights and confidentiality, and promotes infection control. Facilitates patient education, discharge planning, and referrals for ongoing care. Responds to emergencies, monitors patient behavior, and supports a respectful, professional atmosphere.

Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate patient needs, response to interventions, and progress.
• Supervise nursing staff, assign patient care tasks, and evaluate performance.
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and carry out physician orders.
• Maintain organized, compliant medical records and documentation.
• Implement infection prevention measures and ensure safety protocols.
• Educate patients and families about treatment, medications, and disease management.
• Manage staffing, respond to incidents, and support discharge planning.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse license with current CPR and CPI certifications.
• Minimum of one year of clinical experience, preferably in mental health or geriatrics.
• Knowledge of nursing practices, patient safety, and behavioral management techniques.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, especially in de-escalating difficult situations.
• Ability to use clinical equipment, apply restraints safely, and follow legal and ethical standards.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn healthcare software systems.

Physical & Other Requirements

• Frequent lifting up to 40 pounds, standing, walking, and other physical activities.
• Flexible work hours and willingness to travel as needed.
