Job Summary

About the Role

The newly reopened Oncology Unit is a 16-bed unit dedicated to patients with various cancer diagnoses. Nurses in this area have a 1:5 ratio and specialize in the administration of chemotherapy. The multidisciplinary team includes oncologists, nurses, pharmacists, and support staff who work together to provide specialized nursing care.

Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy treatments to patients in accordance with medical orders and protocols.
• Assess patients’ health status and document findings accurately.
• Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) with a state of Alabama or Compact license.
• At least 2 years of recent experience in oncology nursing, with 1 year preferred.
• AHA BLS certification.
• Current CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Completion of an associate degree in nursing.
• Experience in a clinical setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
