About the role

Join our team on Johnson 3, a 32-bed medical telemetry unit that uses evidence-based practice to compassionately and expertly care for patients with stroke, cardio-pulmonary disorders, and acute infections including sepsis. We are the designated stroke unit, providing opportunities to grow bedside neurological assessment skills. Our staff employs a comprehensive team approach to patient care, fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Complete patient assessments, administer medications, perform wound treatments, observe patient progress, and evaluate therapies for clinical outcomes and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other medical professionals to develop optimal healthcare strategies for individual patients.
  • Support and educate patients and their loved ones to achieve maximum outcomes.
  • Provide patient education on diabetes, congestive heart failure, acute blood clots, respiratory care, and comprehensive stroke care.
  • Deliver discharge planning instructions tailored to the patient’s admitting diagnosis.
  • Monitor and assess patients for cardiac arrhythmias (chronic or acute) using our new telemetry system, and treat arrhythmias as needed.
  • Care for patients with self-limiting and chronic conditions, typically aged 18 years or older with stable cardiac and medical conditions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Basic telemetry experience or successful completion of Basic Arrhythmia Recognition and Care of the telemetry patient within 6 months of hire.

Schedule

36 hours per week, with 8- and 12-hour evening shifts. Requires working every other weekend and rotating holidays.

Pay

Base hourly wage range: $37.00 - $84.71. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, and compensation is governed by its terms.

Additional Information

Beth Israel Lahey Health requires all staff to be vaccinated against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment.
