Registered Nurse, Medical–Surgical/Telemetry- 36 hrs, Days with Rotation

Duties and Responsibilities

• Participates in the Nursing Process: systematically assesses the health status of the patient, analyzes and interprets data, and makes nursing judgments regarding care plans.
• Coordinates and implements nursing interventions, evaluates outcomes, revises/updates plan of care, and documents the nursing process clearly and concisely.
• Cares for patients with specific cultural beliefs and practices, utilizes interpreter services for patients with limited English proficiency, and provides and coordinates health teaching for patients and/or patient representatives.
• Collaborates, cooperates, and communicates with other healthcare providers to ensure quality and continuity of care.
• Maintains competencies required for the specific patient population served and adheres to standard precautions.
• Assumes the role of the charge nurse as necessary and actively participates in unit-based Q.A. studies and unit meetings.
• May participate in nursing committees, in-services, and orientation programs as directed.
• Attends and/or participates in in-house or outside training programs to improve and augment skills and knowledge.
• Assists in the ordering and upkeep of supplies as assigned by the Nurse Manager.
• Provides care for patients requiring telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition, and cares for a variety of medical/surgical patients with a range of diagnoses, including Neurological, Orthopedic, Respiratory, Renal, and Cardiac.
• Affectively assesses and manages care issues related to all patients undergoing operative/procedural/medical procedures.
• Performs all duties in accordance with safety and other laws, rules, and regulations set forth by appropriate regulatory and government agencies and in accordance with established department and hospital policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Recent acute Medical/Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience preferred.
• Current licensure as a Registered nurse by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
• Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association before hire.
