About the Role
The registered nurse in the Med Surg Unit provides safe, individualized, and effective nursing care to hospitalized inpatients and outpatients.
Responsibilities
- Assume duties within the full scope of nursing practice
- Demonstrate critical thinking and respond to clinical changes in patient condition
- Involve patients and families in care planning and decision-making
- Participate in ongoing learning and professional development
- Adhere to medication safety standards and protocols
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives
- Coordinate care across interdisciplinary teams
- Prepare for and respond to emergencies
- Support organizational initiatives and evidence-based practices
Leadership and Teamwork
- Serve as Unit Charge Nurse, overseeing care delivery during assigned shifts
- Foster a culture of service excellence and patient-centered care
- Manage staff assignments and workflow
- Investigate and report incidents or variances
- Ensure high-quality, safe patient care through supervision and mentorship
Requirements
- Active RN license in the state of practice
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification within 180 days of hire
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient assessment and care
- Ability to work night shifts
