About the role
6 South Med/Surg/Oncology is a 34-bed inpatient unit caring for patients with medical, surgical, and oncology needs, including pneumonia, COPD exacerbations, pancreatitis, acute renal failure, and post-operative recovery. The unit also features four inpatient hospice beds, providing compassionate continuity of care for patients at end of life.
Responsibilities
- Build foundational skills and knowledge through Nurse Residency and Preceptor directed orientation.
- Build skills in time management, triaging accountabilities, communication skills, pharmacology, lab interpretation, pathophysiology of disease process through a variety of med/surg patients with acute and chronic conditions.
- Care for patients through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
- Develop collaborative relationships with a resourceful multi-disciplinary team.
- Provide continuity of patient care through 12-hour shifts, patient centered care and team minded support.
- Be a valued member of a highly skilled, resilient, and versatile nursing team committed to ensuring the delivery of quality and compassionate healthcare to diverse patient populations.
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing.
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association.
