Avera Aberdeen Family Physicians is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Medical Assistant for a full-time, day shift position in family practice.

Position Highlights

About the Role

Provides professional nursing care under the direction and supervision of the provider, delivering safe and effective patient care. Responsible for clinical and/or clerical duties to support patient care in the clinic, following established standards, competencies, and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Performs general nursing care to patients
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards
• Coordinates patient care activities for the clinic
• Prepares equipment and assists provider during procedures, treatments, examinations, and testing
• Observes, records, and reports patient’s condition and reactions to drugs and treatments
• Oversees appointment scheduling, ensuring timely flow and preferences for emergency situations
• Greets patients, prepares them for physical examination, and screens for health history and vitals
• Documents patient information in charts and instructs patients in sample collection and tests
• Responds to patient phone calls with appropriate physician input
• Educates patients and families about diagnostic processes, medications, nutrition, and wellness
• Suggests solutions to patient care problems and complaints
• Maintains exam rooms with necessary supplies, ensuring cleanliness
• Prepares lists of medical supplies needed and ensures proper labeling of pathology specimens
• Performs quality control and maintains records on all lab testing

Qualifications

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

• Active LPN license with the applicable Board of Nursing required upon hire

Medical Assistant

• One of the following certifications (active upon hire):
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – National Healthcareer Association (NHA) with MA diploma
  • CCMA (NHA) with one year of experience
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Medical Technologists (AMT)

Schedule

• Day Shift: Monday–Friday
• 72 hours per two weeks (Full-Time)

Pay

$20.00 - $41.25 per hour, dependent upon experience.
