Registered Nurse (RN) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) *Increased Incentive*

About the Role

The LPN/RN is responsible for providing direct nursing care to residents and supervising the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. This supervision must align with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained.

Responsibilities

• Direct the day-to-day functions of nursing assistants.
• Plan and coordinate shift services, programs, and activities with assigned nursing staff and support personnel.
• Make written and oral reports concerning shift activities as required.
• Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as needed.
• Provide leadership to nursing personnel on your unit/shift.
• Complete and file required recordkeeping forms/charts for resident admission, transfer, and/or discharge.
• Receive and transcribe telephone orders from physicians onto the Physician’s Order Form.
• Chart nurse’s notes descriptively to reflect care provided and resident responses.
• Fill out and submit accident/incident reports to the Director as required.
• Perform routine charting duties in accordance with established policies.
• Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician.
• Maintain good working relationships with inter-departmental personnel to ensure nursing services meet resident needs.
• Create a warm, positive, and calm environment on the unit and shift.
• Receive and give nursing reports at the start and end of shift duty hours.
• Make rounds with physicians as necessary.
• Administer professional services such as catheterization, tube feedings, suction, wound care, colostomy care, blood draws, massages, and range-of-motion exercises.
• Monitor assigned personnel to ensure compliance with safety regulations for equipment and supplies.
• Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information.
• Ensure nursing care is provided in privacy and staff knock before entering resident rooms.
• Provide IV and IV site care as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse with a current unencumbered state license.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
• Knowledge of nursing and medical practices, procedures, and relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines for nursing care facilities.
• Current CPR Certification.
• Experience in Long Term Care is preferred.

Physical Demands

• Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday.
• Ability to cope with mental and emotional stress associated with the position.
• Must meet general health requirements, including a medical and physical examination as per facility policies.
• Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet and carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
• May need to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergencies.
