What you will do
- Performs and maintains knowledge and proficiency in technical skills for dialysis treatments.
- Provides oversight and delegation to department staff.
- Understands and ensures compliance related to water room equipment operation and function.
- Complies with established departmental policies and procedures, scope of care, performance improvement activities, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Documents in the patient record according to departmental policy/procedure.
- Promotes and maintains documentation and an environment that is in compliance with state, federal, and regulatory agencies, including CMS/ESRD-Renal Network, and Quality Assurance and Process Improvement efforts.
- Collaborates with the patient, family, and health care providers in providing patient care.
- Identifies patient/family learning needs.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates an educational plan for patients.
- Provides patient education related to, but not limited to, the dialysis process and procedures related to that process, including care and management of dialysis accesses.
Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Board of Nursing
- An active license in the state of practice
Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience
- Certified Hemodialysis Nurse (CHN)
- Certified Peritoneal Dialysis Nurse (CPDN)
- Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN)
- Specialty Certification - The American Society of Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics (ASHI)

- The individual must be able to work the hours specified.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds.
