About the role

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Assess patients’ physical, psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, developmental, and diagnostic needs.
  • Diagnose and plan interventions to meet identified needs.
  • Implement care plans and provide direct patient care.
  • Evaluate patient progress toward goals and make necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure patient care continuity.
  • Provide education and health promotion to patients and their families.
  • Maintain clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
  • Maintain any requirements defined by specific specialty.

Requirements

  • Education: RN-Associate’s Degree, RN-Bachelor’s Degree, RN-Diploma, RN-Master’s Degree.
  • Licensure/Certification: Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing, Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire, NRP within 6 months of hire, PALS within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience: Previous L & D experience preferred.
