About the role
The RN Infection Preventionist evaluates resident care quality related to Healthcare Acquired Infections (HAI) and Community Acquired Infections (CAI), ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and standards. This role involves collecting, analyzing, and presenting infection data, providing recommendations for improvement, and monitoring staff adherence to infection control protocols.
The position includes developing and delivering educational programs for staff, residents, and families, and serving as a resource across departments.
Responsibilities
- Monitor public health advisories and manage COVID-19 prevention efforts.
- Oversee the Antibiotic Stewardship Program.
- Maintain current knowledge of infection control practices and regulations.
- Make independent decisions within the scope of nursing licensure and facility policies.
- Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity in all duties.
Requirements
- Active RN license.
- Nursing diploma or degree.
- CPR certification.
- Specialized training in infection prevention.
Qualifications
- Preferred experience in geriatrics or long-term care.
