Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU

Where You Will Work: Aurora Medical Center – Grafton, a 132-bed facility recognized as a leading destination for healthcare. The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) offers a collaborative space with 17 private rooms, where Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and Health Unit Coordinators work together to provide high-quality care. The team is supported by a dedicated Intensivist on-site 24/7 and skilled Respiratory Therapy professionals. Patient populations include cardiovascular surgery, sepsis, respiratory failure, and general surgery. Department leadership includes a manager, educator, and cardiovascular coordinator, fostering professional growth. The ICU uses 6-week scheduling and self-scheduling practices.

Responsibilities

As a skilled and compassionate RN, you will:

• Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
• Use evidence-based practice, clinical decision-making, compassion, and skilled communication to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing.
• Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which you practice.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association or obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or obtained within 6 months of hire.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, and twisting throughout the workday.
• Must safely lift up to 35 pounds and perform patient handling tasks, including pushing/pulling up to 30 pounds and assisting with 150-pound sliding transfers.
• Requires functional speech, vision, hearing, touch, and fine motor skills for clinical procedures and operating equipment foot controls.
• Must respond quickly to changing patient conditions and perform patient safety interventions, including verbal de-escalation and restraints when necessary.
• Exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, and hazardous waste may occur; appropriate protective equipment must be used.
• Physical Abilities Testing and additional department-specific requirements may apply.
