Registered Nurse RN / Hospice After Hours

About the Role

Night Nurse in hospice care, serving the Bloomington, Pontiac, Streator, Seneca, Ottawa, LaSalle Peru, Dwight, Marseilles, and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care during overnight hours, including assessments, treatments, and medication administration.
• Develop and update individualized care plans based on patient and family assessments.
• Record accurate clinical notes and monitor pain and symptom management outcomes.
• Communicate patient condition changes to physicians and coordinate with community health partners.
• Ensure proper equipment and services are available for patients.
• Maintain and enhance clinical skills through ongoing education and training.

Qualifications & Skills

• Active RN license in the state of employment.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Preferably experience in hospice, home health, or related settings.
• Ability to work independently during overnight shifts with strong assessment and clinical judgment skills.
• Calm, reassuring demeanor for patients and families in distress.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally.

Key Duties

• Deliver compassionate overnight nursing care, assess patient needs, administer treatments, document clinical information, communicate with healthcare providers, and support patient comfort and safety in a hospice setting.
