Registered Nurse RN / Hospice After Hours

About the Role

The Night Nurse provides critical overnight hospice care within a designated territory, ensuring patients and families receive compassionate support during evening hours.

Responsibilities

• Assessing, treating, and documenting patient needs with clinical confidence and compassion
• Conducting thorough assessments and contributing to individualized care plans
• Administering medications and treatments as per physician orders
• Identifying nursing diagnoses and responding with sound clinical judgment
• Communicating patient condition changes to physicians and coordinating care with community partners
• Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and ensuring necessary equipment and services are in place
• Supporting ongoing clinical skill development through continuing education

Requirements

• Active RN license in the state of employment
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Preferred experience in hospice, home health, or related fields
• Ability to work independently during overnight hours with strong assessment and clinical judgment skills
• Calm, reassuring demeanor for patients and families in distress
• Excellent documentation and communication skills
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally
