Registered Nurse RN Heart Failure Unit (Full Time/Nights)

About the role

The 20-bed Heart Failure Cardiac Telemetry unit at Lancaster General Health specializes in the care of patients with new onset and/or chronic heart failure. This role involves working with patients who may have additional chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, respiratory problems, and obesity.

Responsibilities

• Incorporates Lancaster General Health mission, vision, and values into patient care planning.
• Functions as an independent and interdependent member of the healthcare team as defined in the unit-based Plan for Provision of Care.
• Performs patient assessments, focusing on physiologic, psychological, and cognitive functions.
• Evaluates progress toward outcomes and adapts the plan of care based on recognized trends and changes.
• Collects and manages comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or the situation.
• Analyzes assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues.
• Formulates age-appropriate and culturally and ethically sensitive plans of care.
• Implements care in a knowledgeable manner and coordinates patient care across several disciplines and among caregivers.
• Provides leadership to other members of the team by effectively communicating expected standards of care and encouraging and supporting team members and their contributions.
• Demonstrates an understanding of and a commitment to the organization’s values of privacy, quality, respect, service, and teamwork.
• Sets, delegates, and supervises other employees and intervenes as appropriate to ensure the plan of care is carried out, continuity of care is provided, and established outcomes are achieved through availability and appropriate utilization of human, material, and financial resources.
• Educates patients about healthy practices and treatment modalities.
• Sysnatically enhances the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices. Utilizes technology where appropriate.
• Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice in the planning and delivery of nursing services.

Qualifications

• RN licensure issued by the PA Board of Nursing or a Temporary Practice Permit until an RN license is obtained.
• Graduate registered nurse with a current temporary practice permit.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher level nursing degree.
• CPR Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support.
• Successfully completed the Nurse Residency Program.

The pay for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Schedule

The schedule for this position is full-time (36 hours per week), night shift (7pm-7am), every third weekend, and rotating holidays.
