Registered Nurse (RN) - Heart Failure

About the role

The Heart Failure Unit (5E) at Christiana Hospital is a 36-bed specialized post-critical care complex cardiac unit providing high-acuity care to patients with complex heart failure and post-operative cardiac needs. Within the unit, 12 beds are designated for post-operative open-heart surgery and LVAD patient population requiring advanced clinical expertise and specialized nursing competencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients who may have chest tubes and surgical drains, large-bore central venous catheters, and external cardiac pacing wires.
• Advanced assessment, continuous hemodynamic and cardiac monitoring, medication administration, patient education, and early detection of changes in patient condition.

Requirements

• BSN preferred
• Commitment to obtaining BSN within three years of date of hire required.
• At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse required
• Previous stepdown experience preferred
• Previous critical care experience preferred
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Delaware RN licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of Delaware

Pay

Hourly Pay Range: $41.28 - $66.05

Schedule

Full-time, rotating shifts: 7A-7P & 7P-7A, 72 hours per week, weekends and holidays as required.
