Shift: Night (7PM - 7:30AM), Part Time (2 x 12-hour shifts per week)

About the Role

We are looking for Registered Nurses (RNs) who exhibit Banner Health’s Core Values of putting our patients first with the aim of making healthcare easier so that life can be better. As an RN on our General PCU 3W/3B, you will work on our combined unit including both a 12-bed complex care private room unit as well as our 29-bed semi-private room unit, utilizing your knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to assess data, plan, and provide high-quality, safe, and efficient care for our patients.

This unit participates in our Progress In Place initiative, meaning the patients cared for on our units have a variety of medical conditions, and we serve both Medical Surgical and Progressive Care acuity patients. Whether a patient is post-surgical or one who is battling a COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, pancreatitis, long length of stays, public fiduciary, renal failure, or hypoxia, you will have the opportunity to utilize your critical thinking to drive their plan of care and maximize your nursing practice to influence patient care and outcomes.

You will have the opportunity to utilize our self-scheduling tool for shift and weekend coverage and also enjoy an additional flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential when applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
• Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and assures completion within appropriate timeframe.
• Reviews available information obtained by other health care team members and diagnostics/laboratory data, reporting abnormal results to the physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers.
• Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and as outlined in policy.
• Formulates a plan of care, including the discharge plan, utilizing assessment data and patient, family, and health team input.
• Initiates a plan of care based on patient-specific needs, assessment data, and the medical plan of care.
• Develops realistic, measurable goals for the patient in conjunction with the patient/family, considering physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age-specific, and educational needs.
• Plans care in collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary team and reviews/revises the plan to reflect changing patient needs.
• Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the activities of the health care team.
• Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, in compliance with policies and procedures, standards of care, and regulatory agency requirements.
• Delegates appropriately and provides nursing supervision in the provision of care to patients by other licensed nurses and personnel.
• Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients.
• Evaluates the patient's and family's response to care and teaching, revising the plan of care as needed.
• Evaluates patient progress towards goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with other health care team members.
• Evaluates patient's response and the effectiveness of patient teaching.
• Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record, ensuring it is legible, timely, and in accordance with policy.
• Provides care based on the best evidence available and may participate in research activities within clinical practice.
• Participates in unit or facility shared leadership, interacting and contributing to the education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors.
• Promotes/supports the growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate.
• Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care.
• Actively participates in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes, such as through participation in professional organizations.
• Interacts with all levels of staff in various departments, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts to report or clarify information.
• Synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to provide support for the human response of the patient and family to changes in health status.

Requirements

• Current, valid RN license in the state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in the state of practice, or compact RN licensure for the current state of practice.
• BLS certification is required.
• Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on the area of practice.
• Experience in the clinical area for which you are applying is desired.
• Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area in which you work as demonstrated through annual validations.
• For Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions: Minimum of one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area.
• For Banner Registry and Travel physician practice positions: Minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a physician practice or an acute care setting.
• For Home Health settings: Must be able to operate a personal vehicle and possess a valid driver's license with active auto insurance coverage.
• For positions at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, and BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting serving children: Must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.
• For Banner Home Care AZ: Must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment.
• For Banner McKee Senior Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit: Must possess a Colorado Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment.
• For any Banner Staffing (BSS) Behavioral Health role in Arizona: Must possess a State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment.
