About the Role
The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse educated in the art and science of nursing, with the goal of assisting patients attain, maintain, and restore health when possible. Competency is determined by demonstrated possession of the knowledge, attitudes, and skills required for this position.
Responsibilities
The registered nurse provides patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, Accreditation Standards, the CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and SRHS Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services.
New RN graduates and RNs in their first year of practice are required to participate in the Singing River Nurse Residency Program.
Qualifications
- Graduate from NLN School of Nursing
- Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Mississippi
- Minimum of one (1) year of inpatient clinical experience preferred; experience must be within the past five (5) years, or evidence of successful refresher program
Certifications
- BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer (required for all RNs)
- Specialty area certifications required within 12 months of starting in the area:
- Cath Lab – ACLS
- Cardiac Rehab – ACLS
- Congestive Heart Failure – ACLS
- Cardiovascular Surgery – ACLS
- Emergency Department – ACLS, PALS, TNCC (TNCC within 18 months)
- Intensive Care Units – ACLS
- Labor & Delivery – ACLS, NRP
- Medical Nursing – OB/GYN - PALS
- Nursery – NRP
- Pediatrics – PALS
- PACU/Recovery – ACLS, PALS
- De-escalation training must be completed by the end of position orientation (90 days)
Schedule
Shift 7PM-7AM at Singing River Gulfport Hospital.
