Job Description

The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse who assists patients in achieving, maintaining, and restoring health. The role adheres to the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, and ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.

Education and Licenses

  • Graduate from an NLN School of Nursing
  • Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Mississippi
  • All RNs are required to complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
  • RNs working in certain specialty areas are required to complete and maintain additional certifications as listed.

Experience

  • A minimum of one (1) year of inpatient clinical experience, preferred
  • Experience must be within the past five (5) years, or evidence of successful refresher program

Physical Demands

  • Moderately active work involving sitting, moving around the office and facility, and traveling to other facilities within SRHS service area
  • Exerting a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
  • Using many physical motions in performing daily work activities
  • Exposure to body fluids, sputum, and tissues, which may carry the hazard of infectious disease
  • Repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and fingers while operating standard office equipment
  • Close visual and acuity needed for daily work activities
  • Ability to work extended periods without undue fatigue
  • Ability to work various shifts and weekends as needed

Mental Demands

  • Demonstrate keen mental faculties and assessment and decision-making abilities
  • Demonstrate superior communication skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Show emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels
  • Work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Maintain collaborative and respectful working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations

Special Demands

  • Possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette
  • Proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient), other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word
  • Apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages
